Brian Downey's Alive and Dangerous are the latest act to be announced for the 4-day Festival that honours Ireland's greatest Rock 'n Blues Guitarists - Rory Gallagher. Other acts announced to date include John Wilson's Taste, Wishbone Ash featuring Andy Powell, Eric Steckel Band (USA), Pat McManus Band, Laundromat (Holland), Johnny Gallagher & Boxtie, Sinnerboy (UK), The Mississippi Sheiks (Ireland) with many more acts to be announced in the coming weeks.
Brian Downey's Alive And Dangerous - featuring guitarist Brian Grace, and former Low Rider members Matt Wilson (lead vocals, bass) and Phil Edgar (lead guitar) will be a real treat for Irish Rock fans with "Thin Lizzy" and Rory Gallagher Band consider by many to be the finest Rock Bands that Ireland has produced. Brian Downey is regraded by many as the the greatest Irish drummer. He enjoyed his first taste of success in Ireland with the top 20 hit 'Morning Dew' before forming 'Orphanage with Phil Lynott.
The two went on to form the legendary Thin Lizzy indeed Eric Bell and Brian remained a constant member until the band split in 1983.
Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival Committee will be announcing several other headline acts in the coming weeks and the Irish Festival of the Year (for attendances over 10,000 people) is set to become another great event with open-air Street Gigs, Workshops, the Rock Hospital Acoustic gig, Nightly Blues Rock Pub gigs and the legendary Big Top gigs on 1st, 2nd and 3rd June 2018.
