MASSIVE INTEREST AHEAD OF RORY GALLAGHER FESTIVAL 2014

The organising committee of this years Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival to be staged in Ballyshannon on the June Bank Holiday weekend are appealing to the accommodation sector in the locality to come forward with accommodation availability such is the demand from visitors that are set to attend the 4 day event that gets underway on Thursday 29th May 2014. Thousands of Rock ‘n Blues music fans are set to converge on the town from over 25 different countries worldwide for what is being billed as the ‘best of the best’ with headline acts from over the past 12 years assembling to honour the internationally acclaimed guitarist that was born in Ballyshannon.
 
Festival Chairperson – Barry O’Neill said “there is huge interest in the Festival this year with a big demad for accommodation in the locality, we are appealing to the accommodation sector and indeed the community to come forward with rooms to accommodate the expected influx of visitors from across the world. Many festival goers are contacting our website seeking accommodation particularly guesthouse and self catering accommodation, we are making an appeal to the public to make accommodation available by contacting us by email to [email protected]  and we will endeavour to relate new availability to the visitors seeking accommodation”.
 
The festival has become a mecca for fans to witness legendary guitarists and this year is no different with acts such as Rory's former band members, Gerry McAvoy and Ted McKenna with “Band of Friends", the founding member of Thin Lizzy and original guitarist Eric Bell & His Band, the legendary “Mungo Jerry” featuring Ray Dorset, renowned “Whitesnake” guitarist Bernie Marsden & His Band, Pat McManus Band (ex. Mama's Boys), Johnny Gallagher & The Boxtie Band, “Sinnerboy” (UK), Laundromat (Holland), “Bad Penny” (Germany), “Moonchild” (Ireland), Tony Dowler & The Hellhounds (UK), Jed Thomas, Seamie O'Dowd Band, Lauerence Jones Band (UK), Dave McHugh Band (Dublin) and many more ....... In all 30 Acts on 15 Stages over 4 days ... its a unique festival tribute that honours one of the greatest of all time.

Mr. O’Neill added “while much of the festival is free to view with street concerts, exhibitions, pub gigs and sessions, the nightly Gala Concerts have seen an increase in ticket sales this year mainly due to the strong line-up of acts that are appearing. The tickets sales data shows that Weekend Tickets for all 3 nights have sold in 27 different countries since going on sale 7 months ago. Our small dedicated voluntary committee have worked tirelessly marketing the festival across Europe and our new website www.rorygallagherfestival.com has proved to be hugely successful, Rory Gallagher would be so proud to know that his worldwide fans are going to his hometown to celebrate his rich musical legacy. The Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival in Ballyshannon was established in 2002, just 7 years after Rory's untimely passing, and has become Ireland's leading Blues Rock Festival, honouring the life, music and legacy of the Late Rory Gallagher. The town of Ballyshannon in County Donegal, Ireland is where Rory was born on 2nd March 1948 and almost from the start he was destined for great things, being born at the appropriately named "Rock Hospital" in Ballyshannon. Irish Rock 'n Blues Legend - Rory Gallagher conquered the world, an inspirational musician to many but unique to us all, Rory Gallagher's legacy is there for all to appreciate having started out with the showband "The Impact" before establishing "Taste" and gave us great recordings and performing moments such as Montreux and at the Isle of Wight, Rory was pure relentless and with the Rory Gallagher Band continued that dedication and hard work on a global scale. He produced more than a dozen albums, devoting his entire life to music and his fans, selling over 30 million albums worldwide with his marathon tours and live performances winning him great acclaim.

Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival 2014 in Ballyshannon,  Co. Donegal, Ireland takes place in the town of the renowned Rock ‘n Blues Guitarist between Thursday 29th May and Sunday 1st June. The organisers of the award winning festival have reported that to date tickets for the 4-day festival have sold in 25 countries across the world. Its expected that over 7,000 visitors will attend the event that will host in excess of 25 music acts including “Band of Friends” that features Rory Gallagher’s former band members Gerry McAvoy and Ted McKenna, “Eric Bell Band” that features Thin Lizzy’s original guitarist Eric Bell, “Bernie Marsden Band” fronted by the legendary Whitesnake guitarist  Bernie Marsden, “Sinnerboy” (UK), “Bad Penny” (Germany), Pat McManus Band (ex. Mama’s Boy’s) and local legends Johnny Gallagher & The Boxtie Band.

The list of acts that will perform at the Gala Concerts, Street Concerts and at venues throughout the town is endless, also appearing will be Laundromat (Holland), Dave McHugh Band (Dublin), local rockers – Moonchild, Laurence Jones Band (UK), Tony Dowler’s Hellhound’s (UK), Seamie O’Dowd Band, Hot Smoke, The Mississippi Sheiks, Jed Tomas (UK), Zero Resistance, Peter Price, the Jamie Clague Band and many more. Weekend Big Top Tickets for the nightly Big Top Concerts remain on sale at just €40 for all 3 nights with over 25 hours of Free Outdoor Street Concerts, Exhibitions and much more.
