Legendary Guitarist - Wilko Johnson (Dr. Feelgood) with Norman Watt-Roy (The Blockheads) and drummer Dylan Howe have been added to the line-up for this year’s Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival that will take place in Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal between Thursday 2nd and Sunday 5th June 2016. Wilko Johnson & His Band stormed the Festival last year in Ballyshannon to a sold-out Big Top and have agreed to return this year for what will be the band's only Irish date. Wilko Johnson Band will perform on SATURDAY 4th JUNE 2016 on what will be the penultimate night of the Rory Gallagher Festival at the Big Top in Ballyshannon Town Centre. The award winning festival that honours the Late Great Rory Gallagher will be quite special this year in marking the 20th Anniversary of the Ballyshannon born Blues Rock Legend.
The addition of Wilko Johnson to the line-up for this Special 21st Anniversary salute to the Late Great G-Man is being widely welcomed on all social media platforms. The Saturday night is a stunning line-up that also includes local legend JOHNNY GALLAGHER & the Boxtie Band as well as the Best Guitarist of the Year Award winner at the recent European Blues Awards - LAURENCE JONES & HIS BAND.
Wilko Johnson said “I am delighted to be given the opportunity to return to Rory’s birthplace, we had such a great gig in Ballyshannon last year, it has to be done again. It’s going to be a brilliant festival and Norman's going to be real busy, as he is also performing on the Sunday night with "The Blockheads" in Ballyshannon, I am really looking forward to playing at Rory Gallagher Festival 2016 in Ireland, going to be great”.
